The Licensing unit within the Natural History Museum is one of several teams that together comprise the International Engagement department. The goals of the department are to develop the Museum’s impact internationally, including growing revenue from its expertise and intellectual property.

The Senior Licensing Manager will report to the Head of Commercial Intellectual Property Development alongside the Head of Publishing and the Photography Studio and Picture Library Manager. The role has one line report in the Licensing Manager. The primary function of the role is to expand NHM brand and image licensing into new markets, including direct-to-retail projects and B2B product licensing.
Key responsibilities will be actively researching, initiating, negotiating, establishing and managing new licensing programmes on behalf of the Museum. In addition, the post holder will develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of customer, retailer and licensee needs, desires and preferences and of market trends within and around NHM’s target markets. The role is responsible for achieving licensing targets and KPIs and delivering accurate, timely reporting across all aspects of licensing programmes.
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced licensing manager with substantial experience, including successful product development. You will have detailed knowledge of retail and wholesale industries and the ability to interface with senior corporate personnel as well as with senior and mid- level client contacts. You will be a creative, strategic thinker with strong business acumen, comfortable operating in complex environments.
